About the author of Peaceful Passage

In her counseling practice Kim West had helped hundreds of people heal and be restored. She had worked with people from all different walks of life and many different issues, including grieving, but never anticipated she would be helping herself to learn how to care for a dying loved one.

When her mother became ill with terminal cancer she brought her to her home and cared for her until she passed. She had no knowledge of hands-on caregiving at this level and found the experience to be challenging, and at times frustrating as she had to learn so much in order to care for her mother. But learn she did.

As a counselor she knew to journal her own experience as a way to help her process her grief at losing her mother. Looking back on this journal after her mother had gone she knew she had to help others who would go through this same experience.

Her PhD in Clinical Pastoral Counseling and her Master of Divinity in Counseling and Family equipped her to care well for the emotions and heart of the reader and the dying loved one. Add to this her hands-on experience caring for the physical needs of her dying mother and you have a woman who can truly assist the reader in providing a peaceful passage from first hearing the news to completing the journey and moving on.

Peaceful Passage is a melding of skills in caring for the body and for the heart. As a counselor West addresses the emotional, mental and spiritual joys and sorrows of this passage. She charts the journey and steers the reader clear of the rocks caring well for them from beginning to end. She teaches the ins and outs of daily care in an ever changing physical decline. She provides worksheets afer every chapter to help the reader get organized and stay on course and she provides journal pages so the reader can chronicle their own journey.

Peaceful Passage, a true labor of love, is a comprehensive and heart-caring help from a woman who truly wants to help and guide those who will take this journey.
